A friend of mine does exactly this with his Texas Indigos. Seems to work well for him.
: I was just thinking about those cage setups that a lot of colubrid breeders apparently use - an undercage drawer connecting to the main cage above by means of a circular opening in the floor/ceiling. I'm wondering if the indigo would find his way down below if I placed a prey item in the drawer for feeding. If that would work, the snake would be free to move back up into the main enclosure when he's ready - no moving the snake around. Let me know what you think.
