: What are the cage designs (size, substrate, heating, etc.) you guys are using to house your Drymarchons?

: Pete,
After havein experimented with diffrent types
of cage design/substrate for years the following
are purely my recommendations:
Avoid melamine cages, wooden cage andglass aquaria
. Buy Vision Cages manufactured by Scott Selstad. He
is not a friend of mine, but the enclosures he makes
are just perfect for Indigos. Easy to clean out/di-
infect, not to bad to look at either. Only problem is
the cage doors on the lower cages often become
jammed due to the weight of the cages above it.
As for lighting , these cages come with a built inshroud
Iuse an incandescent 40 watt bulb to heat them at 7 hour
intervals. As far as substrate,I recommend newspaper, it's cheap,
readily available, easy to clean up after. This last
is the most important, because Drymarchon have fast metabolisms
and they also tend to ingest the substrate with their food. Newspaper
fixes both these problems. Well good luck, if you
need any more information onDrymarchon, go to Renegade Reptiles on kingsnake and check out my Indigo
page.
Best of luck
Fred
