I know I've read alot about how indigos are exceptionally intelligent, but now that I've got my juvi male, I can see some pretty amazing things for myself.
This male of mine, he really does seem to have a keen intuitive sense.
Just yesterday I was feeding him. He was hiding in one of his many hideboxes, one that contains a pretty small hole for him to get in and out of the box with. Using some tongs, I dangled a thawed out mouse a few inches in front of this hole. In his usual pedestrian manner with food (it took him about 1/500th of a second to whack the mouse), he grabbed it without any consideration to where the head of the mouse might be.
He hits the mouse right in the middle of the body. Unlike most snakes I've seen, instead of trying to drag the mouse through an impossibly small hole, he first worked his way to the head of the mouse and then instantly pulled it through the hole!
Anyways, I thought it was pretty cool!
