I dont get it. You're saying they not constrictors except in a technical sense. Hmmm... You lost me. It sounds to me like a lion would then "technically" be a constrictor because it crushes your throat.
I will say that I also saw no constriction last time I fed live. The snake rolled around, smashing the mouse against the walls of its' cage until the mouse was knocked senseless. Then it swallowed it, alive. No crushing, just swallowing. It was the last live feed he got.
