: I was told it takes quite a bit to get one of these guys to bite? And untill I was told I never even knew they were a semi hot? Could you elaborate on this for me. I was thinking about getting a pair till I could afford a pair of Easterns.

Craig,
any snake can and will bite if conditions present themselves and give the snake a valid reason to do so. Snakes bite in rresponse to fear, and cribos do INDDED lash out when they are scared and stressed, but usually they would rather get away then stand and fight. The other response you can get with cribos is a FEEDING response.
What this means is that in his blind rush to procure and grab a food item, the Cribo inadvertently grabbd your hand instead.
this can be prevented by:
1) Not feeding live prey, it enourages wild behaviour.
2) Make sure that you use rheostats tongs or another tool to deliver the prey to the snake.
3) start when young and feed the snake in another container other than its home.
Cribos can be aggresive snakes, but with consistant handleing and safety precautions in place, they should present no more trouble than any other colubrid of similar size.
