Chad,
Not only can you or I not take one home, we legally cant even pick the thing up in the wild. They are FULLY protected in their native habitat. Though you probably wouldnt collect, that does not mean that others would not take the incentive and do so. I can understand your frustration, and yes it would be awesome to see them in the wild.
