: : : : Hi All,
: : : : I built 2 Cages. 4,92 Foot long, 2,62 high, 1,64 deep. What do you think, will this be big enough for my Easterns forever (they are CB 00)?
: : : : An other Question. I want to post a Photo from my Cages and donīt know how to get my Photos into this Forum. Can somebody explain me how to do, please?
: : : : Juergen
: : : I keep my females in cages that size. My male would not be comfortable in a cage that size. My opion is that an adult male indigo/cribo probably needs about 12 square feet of floor space.
: : 12 sq feet in what manner? 3' x 4' or 2' x 6'. Or doesn't it really matter? At 2 x 6, I doubt there would be room to turn around.
: My guess is it wouldn't matter. I think 2x6 would work pretty well. My cage is 3x4, so you know what my preference is.
My opinion:
Adult indigos(Eastern) require a cage of about 7 feet in length and 2 feet in depth and 2 1/2 feet high, with a hidebox on one side.
As Doug t. said, males need more space, males cover huge areas in the wild looking for mates every year, females dont.
Minimum size for a female easterns cage would be 5 ft in length, 2 feet depth and 2 1/2 feet in height.
bigger is better, save yourself the headache later, build a big cage today.
Fred
