In Reply to: STILL HAVE A NON RESPONSIVE FEMALE posted by MARK FARRELL on December 26, 2000 at 16:07:56:
: Hi Folks; I posted a message beginning of December about my unresponsive female. doug and Fred gave me good advice. Night time temp is 60 - 65 degrees. Female is eating but not as vigorously as before. Everytime I introducemy female to the male he is all over her. She doesn't repsonse. However, she doesn't really try to get away. I have put them together for different periods of time. From 10 minutes to 7 hours. The male will not stop. Should I truly brumate the female (no food and put her in a dark box)? Getting very frustrated.
: Anyones suggestions, as always, appreciated.
: Thanks, Mark
Mark,
sounds very frustrateing. My advice would be to visually access your female, is she underweight? This may prevent her from ovulateing. Personally, at this point i would increase the heat on her and put the male and her in a much smaller enclosure(Rubbermaid) This "limited" space theory has worked for me in the past with females that do not want to co-operate. She may have just not ovulated due to less than optimal condition. this is also a possibility. MaLE INDIGOS USUALLY DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER. Haveing said this I think that you should seperate them, warm female up , feed her small items and later reintroduce them in a smaller container. The breding window extends for quite a wjile longer, so don't stress. the difficult part is getting good egs. for that I recommend PRAYER. : )
Fred
