: : A question for those knowledgable in the legalities of owning Eastern Indigos. Living here in California, would I have to possess a permit to own an Eastern, or would simply buying from a licensed breeder suffice??? Not really sure and have heard conflicting info so if anyone could clue me in I would appreciate it..
: : Thanks, Steve

: Owning an Eastern indigo is CA is no problem, as long as you buy it in Ca. If you buy one from out of state you will need a Federal permit. The only other laws that may affect you would be local laws in your county or city.

Chuck and Matt - Thanks for the info. Was curious and didn't really know what the law required. So buying the snake here in CA from a licensed breeder is OK, but buying from an out of state dealer requires a permit??!! Good to know.. Another question I'll pose is when buying from a CA dealer would I receive paperwork substantiating that I obtained the snake in a legal manner?? I know I provide my license number and a copy of the receipt when selling the Desert Rosy's I breed.
Thanks, Steve E
