Your responsibility ends at the time of sale. I'm not sure about NY but I'm pretty sure that if you need a permit to posess indigo snakes the person buying needs a state permit too; there are no federal regulations about intra-state sales that I'm aware of. The person who is buying the snake needs to have a federal permit to be able to cross state lines with it.
