I am obtaining a pair of couperis in 2001 from a reputable breeder in my home state. I have heard that obtaining fertile eggs can be a problem in spite of a successful mating.
Is this the standard for couperis?
I intend on using my suppliers advice on breeding as well as climate info from the natural couperi range. I have heard that a complex diet is required, I have heard of dissapointingly low egg/fertility ratios. My other colubrids (kings) always have very high feritlity rates and my methods have not been delicate.
I would like to hear from successful couperi breeders about any problems you have had, and any general problems that seem to be specifically related to d.c. couperi. And what your breeding methods are.
Also, has anyone experienced delayed fertilization with a female couperi? This is another interest of mine as I have experienced it with other colubrids. Thanks to anyone with helpfull advice and anecdotes.
