Permits are also difficult and take a long time to get. If the Indigo's habitat isn't seriously threatened, put it back. Otherwise look for another nice suitable habitat to release it in. The Snake sounds like it wouldn't do very well in captivity and you don't want a bad encounter with the LAW either.

Consider yourself lucky to catch one in the wild, take your pictures, and let it go. If you really like Indigos, educate others about the benifits of these neat snakes so they will learn not to kill them. If you take pictures, then use them for the public good; but be sure to let the snake go - it's the LAW!
