I've never posted to this forum before, but I've checked this page nearly every day for the past three months. The information that I've learned here has been a great help to me decide if I want indigos, where to get them, and how to go about getting the permit. It was just a few months ago that I decided I was losing interest in my nearly 40 kingsnakes, milksnakes, and corns. I purchased these animals as hatchlings and in most cases (with a few exceptions) they never turned out to have the colors that I wanted as they grew older. Plus, after a really bad deal with a crooked dealer last fall, I decided I was fed up with buying snakes altogether. I decided to try Eastern Indigos because I had always wanted them and since a few breeders were given high ratings on this forum. Well, my interest in my hobby and my faith in breeders and dealers has been restored thanks to Robert Seib. On Tuesday, I received the first of three Easterns that I am getting this year from Robert. This snake is GREAT! It is a yearling male, nearly 4' long, black with a white throat and a hint of orange/rose on its infralabials and chin. Words cannot describe the joy I felt when I held this snake for the first time on Tuesday. I cannot wait to get the two females from Robert soon. I would recommend Robert to anyone who is looking for quality Eastern Indigos. He is easy to talk to, responds almost daily to e-mails, and he describes his animals honestly. I could have paid less with other breeders, but I got what I wanted - QUALITY. Someone said, maybe on this forum, that it doesn't matter what you pay for a snake as long as you are happy with it. I finally know how that feels. Thank you, Robert.
The Federal Permit process was pretty painless. Steve Binning, who has posted to this forum, was a big help and provided me with advice. Victoria Davis at the USFWS is very friendly and easy to talk to. She was a big help as well.
I just want to say thank you to all who have posted meaningful information to this forum. You have been a big help to me. I'm sure I'll continue to look at this page almost every day. I will share my new indigo experiences and maybe post a few pics if I figure out how!
Sincerely,
Chris Shulse
