Hiya Fred,
First of all, if you elect to take it back, I would consider purchasing the animal once he is 'stable'.
While I don't think it's doing the snake a favor letting him stay with this guy, taking on the responsibility of doctoring him up is a shame.
I guess it depends on whether you approach this like a business or as a hobby - if it's as a business, just write it off and change your policy to prevent a reoccurrence. Perhaps a five-day return policy or ten days with veterinarian intervention. That way you preserve your reputation as a dealer (which, believe me will be convoluted into you being the 'bad guy' by someone) and you can cut your loss by reselling the snake.
If it's a hobby, do whatever your instinct is but don't violate whatever policy you already have...
Please let me know what you decise to do - I have two indigos, male and female. I recently purchased a baby female from Robert Seib anticipating a future breeding project, but also learned that my 5' male is also of his stock, and its lineage is uncertain. OK, OK, I'm addicted, so I will be ultimately buying another pair and will be 'swapping partners' some day.
Good Luck,
