2.5 feet is a little narrow, but this can be changed quite easily. What I did was simply extend my closet further into the room by building an extension using the bi-fold doors that were already on the closet. Regarding the two iguanas together, it may or may not work. If both are males, no way. If you have a pair or two females, it might be ok, but only time will tell.
