They came out of the Seattle grunge movement of the early 90's with Soundgarden(originally destined to the first grunge band to go mainstream), Alice in chains, pearl jam, and the band that started it all for grunge, Mother Love Bone. along with other lesser bands such as mudhoney, candlebox, screaming trees, and a few others, grunge became a national success which is pretty much dead and gone today. I try to keep it alive with all my cds...thats all I listen too heh. Andy
