You ever go to smaller petshops and ask questions? The answers will be a hell of a lot more biased because the owners have to sell things in order to make a living regardless of wether it is in the pet or the pet owners best interest. I think it says a hell of a lot more if an emlpoyee attempts to help and when confonted with a question he cant answer goes to find someone who maybe can. He could have said here buy this iguana spray its great stuff, like many a small time petshop owner has told me. Maybe he could have told you "chameleons, dont buy a chameleon get an anole you can keep him in a five gallon aquarium and feed him once a week" heard that one many times as well. Everyone do yourselves a favor and dont go to any petshop regardless of size because rarely will you find a knowledgable staff.
