Neighbor kid: Is that thing poisonous? (talking about my black rat snake)

My son (7 years old): Snakes arent poisonous, they are venomous! And no he is not "venomous", he is a rat snake!

Neighbor kid: What kind of snake is it?

My son: Its a black rat snake.

Neighbor kid: My grandpa kills any snake, he says that all snakes are mean.

My son: Snakes are good to have around, way better than the nasty mice, rats, moles, and other rodents. Rodents can carry diseases you know, like rabies and stuff.

This conversation was going on in my snake room while I was in the bedroom putting away clothes. I had to laugh while he was explaining how snakes keep rodent population down and keep nature in balance because rodents can breed very fast. Etc. Etc. Etc.
And we dont think kids pick up on stuff! Hmmm, just wonder where he got all that? LOL
