Why won't my snake eat...?

I've tried lettuce, but he doesn't seem to even notice it's there...I've tried floating snake pellets, but he just cruises around them. I've even tried canned cat/dog food, but he takes no interest. What's up with my snake? Should I try to give him steak or a whole grilled chicken sandwhich? Thanks in advance for any help needed =)
