: Does anyone else's HL love to swim and soak in their water dish? My female especially loves to just sit and relax in the water. Yesterday she fell asleep in it w/ her front half hanging out. I was going to bed and went to turn off their light when I remembered reading something that said not to get them wet unless it was morning or they'll get fungus on them. So I took her out and left the light on a little while so she could dry off. I was also wondering if HL's like to be handled?

:Dillon, it is hard to say if HLs "like" to be handled. Handeling does cause stress, but if the HL shows no sign of stress then handeling at a minimum is probably okay. I have never heard or read anything about not getting HLs wet. I would not put them in a tropical enclosure because the chance of bacterial infection is high. It does sometimes help with hydration for a HL to have a water source present. Lester G. Milroy III
