In Reply to: are these lizards sick? posted by Kristi on February 25, 2002 at 11:21:28:
: I work at a pet shop. We just recieved four mountain horned lizards, two of which look very skinny and are not eating. Their habitat is sufficant as compared to what I've looked up online and our store info. There is one contradiction: our info says that their main diet is green veggies, but info I found online calls them carnivorous. Which are they, and is there anything I can do to help them?
:When you say these are "mountain horned lizards" what do you mean? Are these lizards in the Genus Phrynosoma or are they something else? There are other lizards that are called "mountain horned lizards" that are not horned lizards from the Genus Phrynosoma. You need to get positive identification of the lizards. If they are from the Genus Phrynosoma, they are not vegetarian. They are insectivors. (myrmycophageous, to be exact, or ant eating specialists.) Get a positive ID. Lester G. Milroy III
