Size question

Hello everyone,
I'm considering getting a hognose and was wondering what variety grow to be the largest. Would you recommend them as a first snake? I only keep lizards at the time, i'm not unexperienced with herps. I've been reading up a bit, but when I do get one it won't be for a while since I'm moving over the summer anyway.
