I hear it all the time. "It was so dangerous... we killed it." "It chased me, so my husband got a shovel and chopped its head off." They say it with pride... My stomach just turns and makes me disgusted with these ignorant people. I met a lawn man while putting up some snake proofing, and was teaching him the difference between venomous and non-venomous snakes, when he asked me about this mean snake that hisses, spreads its head and strikes. He was so certain it was venomous. The look in his eyes when I told him how harmless these snakes are was really amazing. He promised to call me and not kill anymore.
