Hello everyone,
I am the Naturalist at the Las Cruces Natural History Museum in New Mexico. I am fairly new compared to most of you. But always interested in learning and coming up with new ideas on how to learn more about the Gila. Recently I have open designed, constructed and opened our new Gila Exhibit for public view. This exhibit has an upper tier (Basking area) which represents ground level and a bottom tier which represents the den (cooler) temeratures.I have tried to make this exhibit as natural as possible. In doing so their have been problems in the design. Such as accessibility to the lower tier for cleaning or emergencies. I used malimine to seperate the two tiers. Horrible mistake due to the weight of malimine. I know that many zoos use fiber glass cloth for interior exhibit construction. Has anyone used this or have ideas on what I should use?

Second,
Currently I have a great interest in placing remote fiber optic cameras in Gila dens. This would run 24/7. during selected sampling periods. Due to the Gila spending over 90% of its time under ground this would be a great opportunity to study and further understand the natural behavior of them. If you have any interest or ideas please email me @ gepage@nmsu.edu.

Thank you
George
