: Hi, My basalisk is all mest up around the mouth from rubbing against the mesh cage, what do you think I should do to stop it from getting worse?

All previous suggestions were beneficial to the solution. The problem starts with improper habitat set-up. Large cages with at least 3 opaque sides aid in a solution to prevent rostral damage. A good treatment for the rostral damage that I used while working at a reptile shop was a product called, "Nu-Skin". It has anti-septic components as well as leaving a protective clear coating as it dries onto the wound.
