We found a snake that pretty much fits that description except for the rattling sound...it had also a white with black kind of cow pattern on the underbelly from the neck to tail the top was tan with brown circles outlined in black...wouldsit up and try to bite...aggressive...didn't see fangs but had two ridges on each side of mouth with small teeth..reddish-brown colored eyes with a round black pupil. looked up on Aolsearch for snakes of North America and It might be from the colubrid snake species. We got a pic of the glossy snake that matches our snke We live in Traverse City Michigan.

: : : : : What are the 11 most poisonous snakes in North America?
: : : : First off, there are no poisonous snakes in North America. There are several venemous ones, though. A list of the 11 most venemous snakes in North America would also probably include just about all of the venemous snakes in North America, because, unless you count subspecies, there only are around a dozen species of venemous snakes in North America.

: I found a snake in my yard that is about 12 inches long, is tannish gray background and has dk brown spots with black circles around it, it's aggressive in nature, it sits up when it tries to bite, and can also make a rattling sound. He is decorated from head to tail in a straight perfect line with the spots, and I have searched books, the net, and called the DNR and can't really get a clue as to what it is. If you know can you email me please..I have a clue that it might be a Massauga snake, but not sure.....We live in michigan...Thanks
