: Ok I got a question: I found a garder snake by my pool today and my little bro has convinced my parents to keep him(the snake). We have NO CLUE how/what to : feed him, keep him warm, provide water, etc. Can u answer these ques tions 4 me?
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR SNAKE : TO FEED YOUR SNAKE:your best bet are probably small grass hoppers, but if you can not find any, usualy a local petstore would carry small crickets.BE SURE TO KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR SNAKE WILE IT IS EATING!Once I had a small garter snake and I left the crickets in the cage over night and in the morning I realized my snake had been eaten by its food. So if you feed it crickets make sure to take them out if he hasn't eaten it within 5-10 minuts. If your snake isn't eating after a week into feeding you should really set it free.
To heat your snake you should put him in the sun for 1 hour per day. This will ensure that the snake gets the important vitamines from the sun.
Place a small tissue box in his tank so he has a pace to escape the heat if he wishes. Things he must have is 1. a water dish 1/2" - 1" deep 2. some type of bedding a good one is wood shavings used for hampsters.
