That is exactly what I was going to say, that is definitely a marcianus. I'm not sure why (maybe because of the terrain?), but I've noticed that as you head out west away from Texas, checkered garters have a tendency to take on a lighter coloration. I've seen some real beauts from around the Tucson area.
