New to Garter snake

I have some experience with lizards (i have a collared lizards and i use to have other species) and now i'm interested in snake. I read somewhere that garter snake can be a good species to start with. I find them quite attractive and they seem tame enough. Is this true ? can you give me the link to some care sheet or any help or info is appreciated.
