Captive born in 1988 - a cross of a red-sided (parietalis) and tetrataenia. Until last year his brother, who had several skin tumours, was still alive, but died in hibernation. The living one has been in capivity since birth, but this summer, at the ripe age of 14, I released him into my outdoor viv - see other recent postings for further details. Despite it being a large viv (12 feet by 8 feet) with 6 other garters, he has been the only one to have caught and eaten a goldfish from the pond in the viv - the rest of the snakes have never managed to catch the fish, preferring to wait for me to put dead food in!
