eggs hatched,tadpoles died

I hatched some frog eggs I found in my back yard pond and all the babies died within two days.They hadn't started to swim yet so I don't think they starved.I'm going to try again,I have about 20 eggs in a 5 gallon tank with 3 inches of water some live plants and an air stone.Does this sound ok?Any advice will help,thank you.
