My guess is he did not swallow it all the way and must have spat it out at night because he had regained his appetite the next day. But if the gravel is pretty small enough for it to swallow completely, then it could die from impaction, but I'd take it to a vet just the same. I didn't because I couldn't afford it. I would suggest you use very large gravels that your frog can't swallow.
