I heard, and many people told me, the Humane Society *routinely* takes animals brought to them--to the dog pound, and we all know dog pounds, after about a week, will destroy the animal. Because there are TONS of animals brought in everyday, most likely done in gas chambers in mass quantities. But this is better than starving to death, or be hit by cars to sometimes slowly die a horrible lingering death. or be eaten up with parasites and the mange. But if this is true that the Humane Society brings in unwanted pets to pounds if it is not adopted in a certain time, there really is no point having a Humane Society; but seems to be merely a "middle man" for what the city already does. All Counties already fund dog pounds and take millions of homeless dogs and cats there. And, in my opinion, if they get obsessed about REPTILES--they are WAY OFF TRACK--all the more reason they are wasting funding monies rather than trying to alleviate the homeless condition of millions and millions dogs and cats. The whole thing is utterly rediculous...

:This is the Humane society of the US. They are not the Humane Society of America, which is the one that controls the animal shelters. They carefully chose this misleading name and are really nothing more than an extremist group worse than PETA. Just thought I would point that out. Andy
