I heard that captive bred firebelly toads can lose their bright coloring, were your toads adult or still juvenile? Juveniles coloring can tend to be brighter, and then could just darken to a blackish color once they mature. My firebelly toad is a beautiful lime green color, but he does however turn dark right before shedding his skin.
Hope this helped some.

: I have 2 firebellies, and one of them has turned black, like yo umentioned. I've had him for 2 years, and he's always been really healthy and active, but he turned black soon after I got him. I don't know why the other hasn't or why they do at all. I've heard about this problem from other people too, but I don't know why it happens or if it harmful. Let me know anything you find out about it.
