Water PH isn't critical, but if it becomes too acid or alkaline it can irritate their skin. The best thing is to change the water every day or every other day to keep it clean. The water from your tap should have a neutral pH of 7.0. That's perfect as long as you dechlorinate it or leave it out for 2 days. The only time the pH should go awry is if the water hasn't been changed in awhile.
