Cedar Mulch: is it safe?

I just put some cedar mulch in my enclosure for the frilled that should be arriving tomorrow, and it has such a pungent odor that it seems like it might adversly effect them in the long-run(if not over a shorter amount of time). Has any one had any bad/good experiences using cedar mulch in glass aquariums?

thanks
