Thank you Jeff for your reply. I certainly will email you the next time I get up there (a new baby has put hiking excursions on hiatus at the moment.)

Regarding higher elevations: I know of a few choice areas around the 8000ft level in the San Jacinto mtns that look promising, but as of yet I have found nothing. Unconfirmed rumor has it that a few zonata were seen at both these spots over the years, which means that rubbers are likely if in fact the rumor is true. I don't know how much effort anyone has put in looking at the 8000ft level; I know my own efforts have been minimal at best.
