Also, go down to Back Bay Nat'l Refuge, and out to southern Chesapeake. There's a great city park down there, on the old route to Nags Head... off Indian Creek Road, as I recall. Be careful, there, though - Canebrakes DO live there. "Mikey" was an 8' Canebrake that lived there a long time. When he died a few years ago, it was in the news...
Other places to herp in your area - anywhere in southern VB; Blackwater area, Sandbridge area, etc.
