Personally, IMHO, tongs are a waste of money. It is WAY to easy to get overly excited and crush a snakes ribs. It is not always easy to judge the amount of pressure on the snake. If you must use tongs, I have heard good things about some of the gentle giant tongs as they have some sort of rubber upper jaw that distributes the pressure equally over the snake. I still prefer my hooks though...the snake could always trash and hurt itself while partially immobilized with tongs. Andy
