I believe that the state declared war against all the introduced animals & plants & made it illegal to keep reptiles ( even the introduced ones) without permits. If I remember correctly, the state was actually planning to try to eradicate the invaders including the Jacksons... but from what I understand, in many areas they are so common that goal would be next to impossible.
