They are protected in Massachusetts. I'd love to find one though. I've never heard of buying them. For what it's worth, they are fall spawners. Supposedly, the larvae are good sized in the spring when spooteds are just starting to breed. If you rake or net through the leaves and debris in the pools, you can find larvae. Sounds easy, but so far I've struck out.
