Woah, this is really hard....In no particular order, here are five cool finds.
1. My first rough-scale snake (Tropidechis carinatus)-after seeing nothing but roadkills of them for 8 days on a herping trip near Brisbane, Queensland, finally found a baby one crossing the road.
2. My first Syndye broad-headed snake (Hoplocephalus bungaroides)-actually found one my first ever time looking for them, still a huge buzz!
3. A Philippine pitviper (Trimeresurus flavomaculatus halieus) - small one lying on the forest floor, very nice orange colours.
4. My first ever reticulated python (Python reticulatus) - encountering "the world's longest snake" in the wild is a blast (even if they average under 10 foot!).
5. My first Gray's Monitor Lizard (Varanus olivaceus) in the Philippines- I was blown away by the size of this thing up the tree, it then leapt out of the tree, 20 metres to the ground and disappeared completely, I'm told this is common behaviour!
