I've caught so many great snakes over the years, that its hard to pick. my pyros and lots of my alterna are left off this list, as are some big indigos, milks, etc.

Hon. Mention - not so much a memorable snake (because it was kind of an average lep), but a a very memorable "find". in 1993, Marla was driving between fort davis and alpine, doing about 55 when i spotted a big adult lepidus . . . about 30-40 yards on the other side of the fence on a boulder under a tree. i actually had to get my binoculars out when we got turned around to ID it! I was like, "marla, snake!" marla: "where?", me: "back there, on a rock . . . "

5. 5' foot (my first live) eastern diamondback photographed and released in the ANF in 2000

4. my 5th Crotalus willardi obscurus that i found in the Sierra San Luis while working with Dave Barker. We actually caught 5 that morning (dad 1, me 4), but this one was the most memorable

3. my first zonata, caught in the San Jacinto Mts in 1997

2. Ovulating Black Gap Blair's alterna caught in 1992 - my 5th alterna ever and from a really hard-to-collect locale

1. Pinstripe Sanderson alterna female caught in 1995 . . . 5 min after catching a nice darky male blairs
