That's cool man. When I refer to the "untouchable" habitat, I am speaking of all the rolling chaparrel hills that still cover so much of those mountains in Southern CA. I'd be willing to bet that they are considering putting rubers under protection simply because of the appearance of a tiny range on the maps. Just because this species only inhabits a tiny protion of the U.S. doesn't mean the overall population is in immediate danger.
