Pet Age Publication is a trade magazine almost all pet stores recieve. The September issue has an article that several people more or less blast the Herp expos/shows with blanket statements. These statements includes that all herp shows are dealing with sick and diseased animals. If you can get a copy of this article it is well worth the time to ponder what it contains. Mr Ken Foose is one of the persons interveiwed for this article and I'm aware of his name as to being a poster on some of these forums. I didn't read where Ken actually blasted the shows but others did. The people that did, in my opinion, must not be aware of the all captive bred/raised shows. I find some of the statements to be untrue or argumental. Because of legality of reprinting rights#1...shows are becoming negative imaging in some states.
#2...shows are at a peak level in some areas
#3...the animals die the next several days.
#4...animals are kept in small cups/cages and come up with problems due to this at the shows.
#5...shows will decrease away eventually.
I am showing some of the negative statements and not all were in fact negative on expos. I don't think some of the people interviewed understands the far outlook on the shows/expos. In my opinion the shows MAY be one of the few only ways to buy herps in the future due to shipping probs. legal probs. effecting petstores selling herps (we hear it every day). like the article explained, very few shows carry drygoods and or accessories for reptiles. this is still where the petstores should excel.
Any agrees or disagrees to any of the above ?
