Sorry you've had problems, but in fact the reptile expos are the best bet for getting quality animals. Most of the captive-bred animals in my collection were purchased at a Texas Reptile Expo, and I've not had the problems you are reporting. I think it's inaccurate for you to say that as a general rule expos are havens for unscrupulous dealers. It's more the opposite- it's where you have the best chance of looking at some of the best animals AND talking with the breeder and getting individualized advice on keeping the animal. As others have said, like anywhere else you look at the animal carefully, don't try to spend the absolute lowest, and do spend time talking with the vendor. When you do that, your chances of a good experience are very high.

: I can't be the only one getting screwed at these shows. I think that reptile expo's are where unscrupulous dealers go to sell there non-feeding snakes. Half of the animals that I have purchased, later died from starvation. I for one won't be buying anymore animals at these events.
