Nest of snakes

Just this spring, I've been noticing a lot of grass snakes and garter snakes in and around some low lying shrubs. I do not like snakes and am wondering how to get rid of them. I've attempted to transplant them out of the neighborhood, but this seems like a never ending battle. Please help!
