I'm also interested in this programm because we are working on fire salamanders in North East of France. We would like to have contact to you if you want to exchange about fire salamanders.
We are working with transponders. 460 animals have been followed for two years. Some animals have been found far away from the last point of capture (1000 m) and we have not finished !

: BUDAPEST SUN (Hungary) 06 May 99 Nature prize

: A program to save the yellow-and-black-spotted land salamander has won the Hungarian first prize and got through to the international round of the Henry Ford European Conservation Award.

: The annual prize, first given in 1983, supports working projects in the field of natural conservation and cultural heritage.

: The winning project by the Toad Action Group, led by Miklós Puky, aims to help the most endangered vertebrate species of Europe, the salamander, to survive. The project was given Ft1 million ($4,300) along with the reward. The salamander project will be one of 34 entrants competing for the European prize, to be given on June 14.
