Lost Ball Python

My son's snake escaped 4 nights ago and we think it may have gotten into the wall via the heat duct. We've been searching non stop since we discovered it missing. It's still cold in the northeast and I'm wondering if anyone knows what the coldest temperature a ball python can tolerate.
We're still very hopeful it will turn up, but can't help but worry while it's still winter. I've set out water and a couple of heating pads, as well as lined all the doorways with flour.

One other concern is are they timid enough to avoid people? My 2 year old nephew is living with me and occupies a waterbed in the spare room. I have visions of the snake crawling into his bed to warm up and wrapping around him just a little too tight. It's a safe bet if that were to happen, my sister would have her hands wrapped around my throat just a little too tight.

Thanks for any info.
