I wouldn't worry too much. I had a CA king(that I still have today) that escaped when it was a hatchling. He escaped in October and I found him the following year around May. He was perfectly fine, a little unhappy to go back into his cage but other than that he started eating right away again. My CA king is now 10 years old and still thriving. He loves to eat!!!(4-5 mice every other week)
